HYPERCOLOUR FUTURES

Hypercolour Futures was a summer school program that I curated and micro-residency series focused on experimental publishing through the lens of racialized artists. Four sessions over five weeks will were presented at Possible Worlds in July and August 2025.

As part of the summer school program, each session was part artist talk/lecture, part workshop. Guest artists shared art, design and publishing practices from their perspectives and engaged participants in activities for idea generation. Open to the public, participants came away with new knowledge and skills to tell their stories and develop or refine a future publication project. Artists, designers, publishers, educators, cultural workers and creatives from all backgrounds were invited to participate and expand their creative practice.

Over three sessions, I presented Reimagining Institutions: Publishing as a Civic Practice. I discussed how printed matter - on and off the page - could act as a catalyst for collectively reimagining institutional structures and creating new community platforms. The class culminated in the creation of a collective arts manifesto, as a Risograph-printed publication and on screenprinted t-shirts, intended to be disseminated widely and publicly.

The inaugural micro-residencies that I organized at Possible Worlds took place place in July-August 2025. They supported two racialized artists, Aysha White and Macy Siu, who benefited from dedicated time and space toward the development of a DIY or small press publishing project.
